Filters and Search
What you can actually filter, search, and sort on the payee list and payroll history
The payee list
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Type tabs | All, Employees, Loan-outs, Contractors, or Vendors — each tab shows a live count |
| Search box | Matches against name, email, or department as you type |
| Active / Archived | A toggle, not a filter chip — the list shows Active payees by default; switch to Archived to see who's been archived |
| Filter → Union | Any union, Non-union, or a specific union |
| Filter → Onboarding | Any status, Complete, Review submission, Changes requested, Invited, Invite expired, or Not started |
Union and Onboarding filters show up as removable chips once applied — click the × on a chip to drop just that filter, or Clear all to reset both at once. (Active/Archived is its own toggle rather than a chip, so "Clear all" doesn't switch you back to Active.)
Click any of the Name, Type, Union, or Rate column headers to sort by that column; click again to reverse the direction. Job title, department, status, and login columns display but aren't sortable.
Filtered views are shareable
Everything above lives in the page's URL. Bookmark a filtered view, or copy the link and send it to a teammate — it reproduces the exact same tab, search, filters, and sort when they open it.
For a closer look at the payee list specifically, see Filtering and Searching Payees.
Payroll history
The payroll history list (Payroll) has two filters, independent of the payee ones above:
| Filter | Options |
|---|---|
| Status | All statuses, Draft, In review, Approved, Processing, Paying out, Paid |
| Year | Any year you've run payroll in |
A Clear filters chip appears once either is set. There's no department, payee-type, or amount-range filter on payroll history — those apply when you're building a run, not when browsing past ones.
Reports
The Reports page isn't a filterable list — each report generator has its own pickers (a run, a union, a year, or a date range) scoped to that one report, rather than a shared filter bar.
What's not there
There's no way to save a filter combination for reuse, and no global search box that reaches across payees, payrolls, and reports at once. If you use the same filtered view often, bookmarking its URL (see above) is the closest equivalent to a saved filter today.
