General Information Setup
Configuring your company's production info — name, FEIN, and address
Your company's core details — name, FEIN, and business address — live in the Production info stage, the first item on the Company Setup checklist. It's a short form: three fields, plus an address.
Looking for a production type, contact email, or start/end date field? There isn't one. Production info covers only name, FEIN, and address — see What's actually in Production info below.
Accessing Production info
Open Company setup in the left nav, then click the Production info row to expand it — it's the first stage on the checklist. Fields are editable inline; there's no separate "edit mode."
What's actually in Production info
| Field | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Company name | Yes | Your production/company's legal or working name |
| FEIN | For stage completion | Format XX-XXXXXXX — see below |
| Business address | For stage completion | Street address, City, State, ZIP |
That's the entire form. The stage counts as complete once name, FEIN, and the street address line are all filled in.
Show name lives elsewhere
Show name (e.g., "The Tempest," as distinct from your production company's legal name) isn't part of Production info — it's set later, in Settings → Company, alongside your FEIN and address (which stay editable there too after setup). It appears on reports, exports, and payee onboarding pages.
FEIN (Federal Employer Identification Number)
Enter your FEIN in the format XX-XXXXXXX — two digits, a hyphen, then seven digits. Type just the nine digits and the hyphen is inserted for you automatically.
You type: 123456789
It becomes: 12-3456789FEIN is optional when you first create your company (you can add it later), but Production info won't show as complete without one.
Business address
Start typing your street address and matching suggestions appear (address autocomplete, powered by Radar) — pick one and city, state, and ZIP fill in automatically. You can also just type the full address by hand; nothing here blocks saving if autocomplete doesn't find a match or if you skip it. There's no separate "address validation failed" error state — if the fields are filled in, they save.
Editing later
Everything here — company name, FEIN, address — stays editable indefinitely from Settings → Company, alongside show name, pay frequency, and check start number. Changes save immediately from a single save bar; there's no separate confirmation step or approval needed to update them after your company is already set up.
Best practices
- Use the name that matches your official business registration — it's what shows up on union reports and tax filings.
- Add your FEIN as early as possible, even though it's optional at company creation — several other parts of setup (like the Payroll provider stage) work better once it's on file.
- If your address autocomplete doesn't find your building, just type it manually — it still saves.
Common issues
FEIN won't format correctly
Type digits only — the hyphen after the second digit is added automatically as you type. If you paste a pre-formatted FEIN, delete and retype the digits.
Production info still shows incomplete
Check that all three — company name, FEIN, and the street address line — are filled in. City, state, and ZIP fill in automatically when you pick an autocomplete suggestion, but the stage only checks the street address line itself.
I can't find production type, contact email, or dates
These aren't fields Greenroom collects from you directly. Greenroom's own team classifies each company's platform-fee tier (Broadway / Off-Broadway / Development) internally — see Platform Fees & Billing if you're trying to understand how that affects your bill. If you need something tracked that isn't captured here, talk to your Greenroom contact.
